Nov 23, 2009 - Why spend an awfull amount of money to buy a shoe that claims to do the job of the feet that we allready have? The heel of that shoe is way to high to land the foot in a natural way. If you want to benefit from muscle- and tendon elasticity capacity the heel needs room to lower to the ground to load the achillestendon and plantar fascia when weighted over support. Better increase your running skills and switch carefully to more minimalistic (light, flexible, low heeled, less expensive) shoes.

Nov 6, 2009 - Running like they say might be a bit too much for the calfs and heels considering how much they stretch to keep the forefoot down and the heel up. During a competition you want your feet to keep off the ground as long as possible but during training sometimes relaxing your legs is just as important as doing tempo runs and without striking your heel to let your feet roll smoothly is fairly hard on the leg muscles.

Oct 28, 2009 - I run in racing flats (adidas adizero mana), I've always trained and run in racing flats. most of the shoes these days are heavy and bulky as hell. Try a racing flat on a beach, you'll love it

Sep 19, 2009 - One thing that helped me relax my shoulders that I read, is to smile! :) Seriously, when u force yourself to smile your relax your muscles through your cheek, neck and shoulders. Hope this helps!

Sep 16, 2009 - Additionally, I played the game of soccer bare feet in a camp for a year. The grass field was not maintained, it was hard at first on my feet and knees but in time I got used to it. I was landing with my forefoot first and after I developed a thick callus I started landing in mid foot. Once i did that my speed increased.

Ronaldo obviously needs to plant before he strikes a ball or makes a cut, so his feet are conditioned to feel the ground w/his heel first to stay in contact and on balance. A sprinter like Gay achieves maximum speed and maintains that w/an efficient, quick midfoot strike that keeps his legs cycling. Same w/Bolt. Same w/Michael Johnson.

Sep 2, 2009 - If you want to start running with a mid-foot strike then there is going to be a transition phase where your calves have to build up strength. I'll never go back to heel striking, it just doesn't feel natural anymore. You've got some awesome times with the heel striking though, Idk.

Aug 26, 2009 - Sorry I don't buy. There are world beaters in all forms of landing. Haile Gebreselassie lands with his fore foot, Kenenisa Bekele lands with his mid foot, same with Bolt and Gay. Ronaldo, one of the best and fastest soccer players lands heel to toe. The best thing is to find shoes that accentuate your style. E.g if you land heel to toe find cushioned shoes and stiff in mid sole that will move the energy from back foot to front and help move you forward.
