Nov 17, 2009 - Buddha and Nirvana exist in oneself not historical Buddhas or religions. When the time is right you will enter the truth not just label it with sanctimonious religion

Nov 9, 2009 - indian religions r more or less philosophies n nt religions in full sense lik abrahamic 1's,they accept d existence of othr faiths n believe in mutual co-existence,dont claim 2 be d only way n are very pluralistic, unlik abrahamic religions who hv a history of bloodshed n forceful conversions, buddhism is a gr8 religion as well as hinduism, buddha was a gr8 guy,i respect him a lot,n feel really proud tht such a gr8 man ws born in my religion n my country, and graced us with his enlightened thoughts
thescorpionking2010 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - unlik the jews who crucified jesus for speaking against sum tenets of judaism or claiming to be son of god, hindus respected buddha n made him an avatr of vishnu, thts the difference, ancient india ws more or less very tolerant of othr faiths,n morever hindus nevr saw buddhism as sumthin radically different othr thn thr own,a true hindu will always rever buddha, coz he ws a gr8 man, buddha's teachings lay the foundation 4 modern day hinduism
thescorpionking2010 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - c dude hindusim and buddhism compliment each other really well, its just 2 different names for 2 similar philosophies although both r a little divergent in practise, but very much similiar, buddha condemned the various rituals present in the vedas but nt the vedas overall, brahmins then also condemned him and wer afraid of him n wer nt able to figure out what he actually meant,at one point india had become totally buddhist, but later on hinduism absorbed it

Nov 9, 2009 - Dieties who are of higher mental/spiritual states of mind than the layman. And he also said that a person whos's engaged in rightousness wil always earn the blessings of those dieties and it will support the wellbeing of that layman.AND another thing is that I don't think Buddhism is chnaged that much from those times. There could be various 'versions' like Mahayana etc but true Buddhism will always be there even if it might be less followed.
maxelldemon Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - Thank you for the long and enlightening reply :). I really appreciate the insight you have provided me on Buddhism as a Hindu AND an Indian :)I agree that there's no other two religions that tolerate or compliment eachother like Buddhism and Hinduism. Hindu deities have become Buddhism's own and a lot of Buddhists (including me) visit Hindu temples and pray to Hindu dieties often. Its true that Buddha refused the existence of an almighty God but he did accept the existence of dieties.
thescorpionking2010 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - one of the major reasons the buddhism declined in india,ws the fact tht it ws nt dependent on god but a gr8 man's word, buddhism just gradually gt absorbed by hinduism later on,indians rejected it cz they never tht of it as sumthin different from thr own, buddhism is totally indian product and buddha 100% indian and hindu,he at tht point of time wud nt hav even imagined tht his teachings will be rejected by his own people but embraces by others
thescorpionking2010 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - thr is no record of buddha evr sayin tht he hs started a nw belief or tht he is nt hindu, obviosuly he ws hindu m he tried to reform wt it ws then, nuthin worng with tht, buddha's attempts were the first in recorded history to raise voice against discrimination of ny kind,n buddha ws a grt hindu buddhism and hinduism r similar religions very identical but still different, unlik jews and christians atleast they dnt hav ny history of bloody conflict, hindu kings always supported buddhism
thescorpionking2010 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - if u r sayin tht buddhism is a religion, then obviously ur totally wrong coz its nt coz buddhism is a philosophy, buddha nevr said tht peopel shud worship him after he is dead, early buddhism or the indian buddhism which is dead unfortunately ws the true buddhism,m nt sayin tht buddhists today r nyway wrong but the modern buddhism is different from the way buddhism ws concieved by buddha, buddha did nt establuish ny religion he just wanted to improve the life of grief struck hindus back then
thescorpionking2010 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - the first buddhists wer hindus, and buddhism is a product of the hindu mind, basically indian invention, although unfortunately the religion died in india or just gt absorbed by hinduism later on,but atleast we send our phiolosphy and 1 aspect of our religion to al the other countried in the world,if our ancestors wished they cud hav kept it to themselves but they send it evrywhr else to know wat the grt buddha taught, thts y buddha ws a grt hindu and definitely the greatets human being tht lived
thescorpionking2010 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - buddha;s teachings nt only laid the stone for buddhism but the roots of modern day hinduism,so i cn say tht modern hinduism has roots ion buddha;s teachings, buddha is considered god incarnate and his stautes cn be find in almost all parts of india, most people rever him and repsect him,in tht sense buddha ws a gr8 hindu atleast he raised voice and tried to end wat ws wrong,he wnted to reform the vedic religion at tht time, the indians wer his won people and the vedic religion his very own
thescorpionking2010 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - buddha said tht dependence on god makes one materialistic,he said a true god does tn need worship,i no as a hindu tht wat buddha said ws absolutely right, caste system n animalsacrfices r bad, hindus today abhore animal sacrifice and the caste shackles r slowly breaking down,it is no longer the way it used to be,nin may aprts hs totally collapsed, bedas today r no longer most important scriptures of hindusim, although they form the basis, they r nt blindly followed
thescorpionking2010 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - dude thts is indeed the point, wat is today hinduism didn't even exist at the time buddha ws born,it ws vedic religion whr people mercilessly sacrificed animals and believed in the filthy caste system,m a hindu n i no tht wt is wrong has to be condmened, abd buddha did just tht he nevr denied the vedas altogether but rejected animal sacrifices mentioned in it and the caste system, modern day hinduism is ablend of both buddhism and the vedic religion and other religious philosophies
maxelldemon Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - Haha that's very..contradictory.."Buddha is the greatest Hindu.." I dont know whether it was actually Hinduism which was there back in Buddha's time in India or maybe it was some older version of Hinduism but the fact is Buddha condemned a lot of Hindu beliefs and instated a new religion called Buddhism. So in that sense you can call Buddha the worst Hindu ever lived lol.Buddha is no doubt the greatest human being ever lived but..to call him a Hindu.. that is highly inappropriate pal.
