Nov 2, 2009 - uhh i never said american and european cars can't be tuned, and i never called japanese cars tuners.the nissan gt-r has an encrypted ecu to make tuning difficult. my question was why nissan would want to do that. my observation is that tuning is big in japan so it seems to me like this move is like nissan shooting itself in the foot.who's stoned? your response completely misses the point of my comment.

(they failed, obviously.) it seems like tuning is a big part of japanese car culture, and i would guess it looks bad on a manufacturer to exclude their car from tuning. is tuning an underground, frowned-upon practise in japan? i don't know for sure, but i don't think it is.
